I am from northern Minnesota and I am going to be planting a plot of Imperial No-Plow from the Whitetail Institute of North America and was just wondering if there is anyone out there that has planted this blend and what kind of success did you have with growth and attracting deer onto your property? I will be tilling the ground the same as I would with any regular blend because I will receive the best results by doing it this way.

I had pretty good sucess with Imperial Products including No Plow.

Have you tried sun rich farm products? From MN or Minnesota Deer Hunter Assn seed blend?

Are you in luck.In 2003 the "Bowsite" did just what you are asking ........

planting No-Plow (http://www.bowsite.com/bowsite/features/misc/food-plot/plot2003/planting.cfm)

Summer check up on 'No-Plow" (http://www.bowsite.com/bowsite/features/misc/food-plot/plot2003/CHECKUP.cfm)

Attempting to hunt the "No-Plow" (http://www.bowsite.com/bowsite/features/misc/food-plot/plot2003/hunting.cfm)

Basically no plow is made up of very small seed such as clovers, rape, ect.Very small seeds physically are more successfull as "no-plow" type seeds. In the case of the "Bowsite" they fertilized and tilled the ground before broadcasting the "No-Plow".

In summary: Because the ground was tilled before broadcasting the "No-Plow" the seed was Too successful. The rape with-in the mix over shaded the rest of the seeds and dominated the plot. Thus turned into a rape foodplot and the plot did not perform as desired.I'm still hoping the Bowsite would follow up and attempt to hunt the "no-Plow" late season and report on late season use of the no-plow/rape foodplot.

In northern Minnesota, a rape foodplot may be the way to go, but it should be planted in mid to late summer. But it would be far cheaper to buy rape seed locally than to buy "No-Plow".

I plant a 3 acre plot of Biologic Maximum Brassicas and the deer go crazy for this blend in Minnesota from September into the winter until we get to much snow that they can't get to them but there are still some deer that dig through the snow even now in February to get to what is left. And I will be working another 4 acre plot right next to my 3 acre plot and would not have the ground ready until late summer and wanted to put something in that would give them a variety of food in the fall to choose from and I thought No-Plow would do that, so I hope the Dwarf Essex Rape does not take control of the plot being I will already have a field of Brassicas there for the deer. I seen that the Bowsite planted early and I won't be planting until at least the first of August so I hope this would help so the rape does not take control of the plot. Then in the spring of 2005 I plan to put a perennial crop in this 4 acre plot and was wondering if anyone has tried putting in Chicory without blending it with other crops. I think I will post it as a question also.
