This is absolutely well intentioned. I've seen this response on a few of your 'age this' posts before and I just thought it's worth mentioning. When aging deer during hunting season, the normal convention is to name them by 1/2 years.

1/2 (or 6 months) for fawns, 1 1/2 for yearlings, 2 1/2, 3 1/2, 4 1/2...etc. It doesn't really make sense to age a deer and say 2 1/2-3 or 3 years tops. What you'd be saying is that this deer was either born in 2007 in the spring or 2006 in the fall. But we know that deer are only born in spring, so thus, during hunting season we age them at half years.

There are some who have the convention of saying whole years, and in that respect then "3 tops" would mean 3 1/2 tops. This is kinda rare and you don't really see people aging that way because if a yearling is 1 year old than what is a fawn? (0?)

Just thought I'd bring this up.

Anyways, I'd love to see another picture of that deer in a better light. There's not much to go off of due to the overexposure, but I think 2 1/2.

I was born in the spring, but I don't refer to myself as 49 1/2. There is nothing wrong with saying a 2 year old or 3 year old. A 3 year old now will turn 4 in the spring. Only he and his mom know exactly which day.

BTW, I'll go with a 2 year old on the deer also....
